Zero Carbon Harrogate is pleased to announce an evening with Clive Wilson at Starling Cafe Bar Kitchen on Wednesday, 18th September 2024, from 7pm to 9:15pm.

This special event marks the launch of Wilson’s new book, Leading Beyond Sustainability: Six Aspirations for a Brighter Future, and offers the chance for us to engage with new ideas that could help shape Harrogate’s future within the wider context.

ZCH talk: climate expert Professor Piers Forster is the keynote speaker 
at our upcoming AGM – Thurs 18th July 

We're delighted that esteemed climate scientist and ZCH Patron Piers Forster is the keynote speaker at our upcoming AGM. On Thursday 18th July, 7pm you have the chance to join us to hear Piers' expert knowledge on how we meet the UK Government's Carbon Budgets and what that means for Yorkshire. Piers is Professor of Physical Climate Change and Director of the Priestley International Centre for Climate at the University of Leeds, and advisor to the government as Interim Chair for the UK's Climate Change Committee.

The evening will be an excellent opportunity for volunteers, members and supporters to come together to celebrate our achievements and hear about future plans, as well as hear from an inspiring, educated speaker.

UK General Election announced for 4th July

On Wednesday 22nd May, it was confirmed that the UK will be having a general election on 4th July.

 

Currently, there are seven confirmed candidates for the Harrogate and Knaresborough constituency:

  • Conrad Whitcroft, Labour Party

  • Shan Oakes, Green Party

  • Andrew Jones, Conservative Party

  • John Swales, Reform UK

  • Paul Hslam, Independent

  • Stephen Douglas Metcalfe, Independent

General Election Hustings event

Wednesday19th June

Join us at the Wesley Chapel in Harrogate on Wednesday 19th June, at 7.30pm for a lively debate with the Harrogate and Knaresborough constituency candidates. We'll be asking about their climate policies and what they plan to do to tackle decarbonisation. If you'd like attend, you can simply turn up on the night, but if you have time, please fill in our registration form so that we can keep an eye on numbers.

Walk to School Event Manager Needed (Volunteer Role)

We're looking for an organised person to lead our super successful Walk to School and Car Free Fridays campaigns! The right person will be coordinating fun event days encouraging pupils to choose low carbon transport as a way to travel, This is a key volunteer position and requires a few hours a month, but we'll be here to support you all the way. Neighbourhood Planning - Open Meeting

Tuesday 4th June 2024

You're invited to join an open meeting at West Park United Reformed Church at 7pm on Tuesday 4th June to talk about Neighbourhood Planning in Harrogate. A representative from a local town will share their Neighbourhood Plan, and there'll be a discussion about the ideas shared. Attendees will consider how we can address the needs of the community with our own Neighbourhood Plan before taking a vote on the next step to create a vision for Harrogate.
